Srinagar, Jul 05 (KNO): The Jammu & Kashmir Assembly’s committee on subordinate legislation has decided to review the rules of land laws in the Union Territory. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), chairman of the panel and MLA Pampore, Justice (retired) Hasnain Masoodi said that they have decided to scrutinize the rules of land laws to assess whether they align with the statutes. “If there are inconsistencies in them,” Masoodi said,” we will recommend necessary changes.” The committee on subordinate legislation reviews subordinate legislation (rules made under laws) to ensure they align with provisions of the parent laws. As per procedure, the committee holds meetings to examine rules and seeks clarifications from departments before finalizing its observations. Once the committee finalises its observations/recommendations, its report is tabled in the Assembly. It is worthwhile to mention here that J&K’s land laws underwent significant changes following August 5, 2019 constitutional changes. As many as 12 laws related to land and allied issues were repealed, while 14 others were amended—(KNO)
